So if you follow me on Instagram ( @willworkformakeup ), you'll already know that I dressed up as The Little Red Riding Hood for a Halloween party this past weekend! I really like how my makeup turned out, especially since I don't typically have many occasions to wear a smokey eye and fake lashes and bright red lips, so I thought I'd post about it :) I can't really say the makeup is super Red Riding Hood-like, especially since she's supposed to be a little girl, and I don't know about you, but I don't know that many little girls who frolick through the woods to go visit their grandmothers with a face full of makeup on....grandmother would definitely disapprove ;) Obviously, this is just the more grown-up take on it all. For my face, I used my usual base, which lately has been a mixture of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in #53 and Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in 3.0 . I love deep berry lips for fall just as much as the next person, but sometimes they can be a bit difficult to wear during the day and quite frankly, a little too high-maintenance for me, especially if I need to use lip liner and/or bust out a lip brush in order for the application not to make me look like the Joker.  What I much prefer doing most days, if I feel like wearing a darker lip, is dotting the lipstick onto my top and bottom lips and blending it in with my ring finger. Working it into the lips helps to create a stain, especially when using a highly pigmented lipstick, that not only lasts for hours upon hours and is much more wearable during the day, but there is close to no transfer outside of the lip lines whatsoever since there is hardly any product sitting on top of the lips. This method of application, if you would even call it that, requires no time, no liner, no brush, and no skill or precision whatsoever, which is probably why I love it so much :) These two lipstic...

Hello, everyone!   Remember me?! Sorry I've been gone for so long, but I'm back now because I have to share this new find with you! I got the LORAC PRO Palette a few weeks ago, and SERIOUSLY ?! Seriously, you guys, it's ah -mazing! Size-wise, it's a tiny bit shorter in length than the UD Naked Palette, but it's also a tiny bit taller ( taller ?) ...you know what I mean. It's also thinner. Like all good palettes, it comes equipped with a mirror. She's a beaut! This palette retails for $42 and comes with 16 eyeshadows, half matte (top row) and half shimmery (bottom row). It also comes with their mini Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (not pictured), which works well, much like TFSI and UDPP.  Unlike the Naked Palette, which comes with 12 full-size eyeshadows that are 0.05oz each, each of the LORAC shadows is 0.02oz. It's quite a bit less than the UD, but for people who have more eyeshadows than they know what to do with and rarely ever hit pan on any of them...

I purchased the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm when I was home in California a few weeks ago, and the first thing I noticed about it was its striking resemblance in color to my Clarins Lip Perfector in #2 . So off I went digging into my makeup bag before realizing that I was an idiot and didn't bring it with me...biggest travel makeup packing mistake ever! As soon as I got home, though, I tried out the combo immediately and honestly, these two products were made for each other. Revlon Charm (left) and Clarins #2 Wearing Clarins #2 over Revlon Charm . The two shades are pretty much identical, although the stain left behind by Charm tends to lean a bit darker and more corally...think a much more muted version of MAC Costa Chic lipstick. Both products are quite moisturizing on their own anyways, especially the lip perfector, but together, I find that the lip perfector helps to seal in the moisture (and the color) even longer. Costa Chic is one of the best purchases I've made from MAC in a long time. I'll be the first to admit that I have quite a few lipsticks I've only worn once or twice, and I was afraid that Costa Chic was going to suffer the same fate. However, since adding it to my collection, I've been wearing it non-stop! Costa Chic is a bright coral that despite it's frost finish, is only slightly frosty, in my opinion. It's a more refined frost finish, if you will ;) I find that MAC's frost finish lasts longer on me than lustres and cremesheens, but it also doesn't dry out my lips like the matte finish does. It also doesn't settle into my lip lines like the cremesheens. I'm not usually a fan of frosty lipsticks, but Costa Chic really isn't all that frosty, to be honest. The interesting thing I've found with it is that it's just bright and colorful enough to be an almost statement lip, if you want it to be by pairing it with a simple eye look, but...

I was at Target the other night (because it may or may not be like my second home), and I noticed that they just got the new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in. Although I hadn't really been interested in them at all when I first heard about them, I am nothing if not a makeup addict, so of course, I chose a shade that stood out to me most and purchased it. I went home with Rendezvous , a bright tangerine-coral. The balm stains are like the Tarte LipSurgence Lip Stains and the Clinique Chubby Sticks with their large pencil-like packaging that actually twists up at the bottom instead of needing to be sharpened. As mentioned before, Rendezvous is a bright tangerine shade with a touch of coral, and it has no noticeable shimmer to me. It has a slightly minty scent that isn't nearly as strong as the Tarte LipSurgence line. Happy friday, everyone! I got a much needed trim today (goodbye, split ends!), and my hairdresser commented on how she really liked my unintentional ombre from dying my hair red-ish back in October then letting it grow out for the past 7 months...hee hee :D  Anyway, I'm about to get ready (outfit change!) to go out to dinner with some friends from back home. Introducing Burberry makeup into my life turned out to be both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing in the obvious sense because the two products I started off with (<< see what I did there? "started off with?" ...which means I'm definitely going back for more sometime!) are amazing, and a curse because the price point makes it more of a splurge brand for me.
